Coach Development Grant
The Coach Development Grant (CDG) is one of several initiatives of the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) which provide financial assistance to coaches who wish to upgrade their coaching knowledge and skills in the form of coaching attachments, attending conferences; short-term courses; workshops and seminars as well as obtaining a degree or diploma, both locally and overseas.


Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to apply:
  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident for at least 2 years, preferably an NROC Coach.
  • Coaches must have been actively coaching in the sport in Singapore for the last 3 consecutive years.
  • Have proof of acceptance/enrolment/registration from relevant institution/organisation.
  • For degree or diploma education, the course must be coaching and/or sports science related.
  • Applicant who receives financial support from other department/division/group within SSC is not eligible to apply.
*Please note that successful applicants are limited to a one-time support within the financial year eg. 01 April 2009 - 31 March 2010.


What items can be covered?

1. For local conference / degree or diploma or short-term course / seminar / workshop, only the course or registration fees will be subsidised.

2. For overseas conference / degree or diploma or short-term course / seminar / workshop, only the following expenses will be subsidised:

  • Accommodation (3/4 star hotel) or Housing Allowance
  • Conference / degree or diploma or short-term course / seminar / workshop course/registration fees
  • Return economy airfare
  • Land transfer (airport-accommodation-airport only)
  • Airport taxes
  • Student/Travel visa fees
  • Travel Insurance at a maximum cap of $50.00
The grant does not cover First Aid and CPR (being fundamental requirements) courses, as well as SSC organised courses such as the National Coaching Accreditation Programme (NCAP) courses and NSA conducted courses (as these courses are already subsidised by SSC).


How much?
The SSC will assess the inidividual items for approval and subsidise 75% of the cost of approved item(s) or a maximum cap of $5,000 whichever is lower.

How long?
The processing period takes between 4 to 8 weeks.
