Singapore Canoe Federation Looking For National Coach

Post of National Coach (Sprint & Marathon)


The SCF Management Committee is inviting applications from responsible and highly motivated individuals who can undertake this competent and professional role as the National Coach for its Sprint and Marathon disciplines in preparation for the upcoming International/World Events in Canoeing and Kayaking.

Job Responsibilities
The following are the roles and responsibilities:
  • Assume overall responsibilities for creating High Performance National Teams (Senior & Junior).
  • Determine selection criteria & format for National Teams.
  • Organize local centralized training & coaching courses.
  • Mentor and guide professional coaches.
  • Involve with National Championships organized by the Federation.
Job Qualifications
The following are the qualifications:
  • Professional coaching certification from NSA or from International Federation with qualification in coaching at least one Kayaking discipline.
  • National Coaching Accreditation Programme Level 3 or its equivalent
  • Current First Aid certification.
Job Criteria & Experience
The Candidate must have the following background:
  • Is a former National Athlete and is currently holding appointment as Coach or Head Coach.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in coaching, designing, planning and executing kayaking programmes.
  • A working knowledge or/and experience in Sports Science, Strength and Conditioning.
  • Is proficient in English in the written and spoken form.
  • Is self-motivated and have the ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Is familiar with MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Must be an authority and a spokesperson in the promotion of the sport.
  • Possess the following qualities: Is proactive, Is energetic, passionate, positive, highly-driven and a good team-player. Candidates with creative thinking abilities and a "can do" attitude would be added advantages.
